Two from two for Albion in opening weekend

Albion won both of its 20/20 games played on artificial pitches at Don Field on Saturday. In the first round it beat Union by 33 runs. Batting first Albion made 115 for nine it its twenty overs with Dylan Winter(38) and Jonty Naylor(20) showing good early season form and bowling for Union Brent Lilley,Blake James and Brad Fleming took two wickets each. Union was dismissed for 82 with Duncan Drew(22) the best of the batsmen while Matt Day took six for 14 and Naylor two for 10.

Valley defeated Oamaru by nine wickets in the other first round game.Oamaru batting first made 91for six with Matt Murphy(33) and Regan George(23) the major contributers while for Valley Matt McLelland took two for 24.Valley cruised through to 93 for one with Cameron Grubb(47 not out) and Rhys Petrie(37 not out) batting confidently.

In the second round Oamaru set Albion the task of scoring 113 plus to win its second game. For Oamaru Murphy(27 not out) and Reece Curle(21 not out) kept Oamaru in the game while Jeremy Smith(two for 10) and Jonty Naylor(two for ten) the best of the Albion bowlers.Albion swept through to 115 for two with Naylor unbeaten on 83 and Smith adding twenty runs.

Union batting first against Valley put on 147 runs for the loss of four wickets in its twenty overs with Drew(44), Sam Bastin(40 not out) and Dylan Edwards(27) showing form. Valley could make only 128 for six in its twenty overs with Francois Mostert(60) and Richard Witham(29 the pick of the batsmen while for Union Lilley claimed two for 16 and Dan Conlan,two for 32.
