Semi-Finalists Found

Albion will play Oamaru/St Kevin's College and Union will play Waitaki Boys High School First X1 in the Borton Cup semi finals next weekend. Albion finished top of the qualifying section with a comprehensive win over Union at King George Park.

Batting first Albion made 192 for eight in its fifty overs with Albion allrounder Brad Kernahan making his mark on the game with some dominant batting and later in the Union innings he excelled with the ball as Albion made 192 for eight in its fifty overs. Kernahan(78) led the way with a dominating seventy eight and with Jonty Naylor(28) added seventy five runs for the fourth wicket. Dylan Winter continued the free wheeling innings with forty two  invaluable runs.

Bowling for Union Blake James took two for eighteen, Brad Fleming, two for 46 and Phil Crossan, two for 32.

Kernahan destroyed the Union innings  and off 4.5 overs took four for seventeen the four wickets coming off his final five bowls with his first three balls giving him a hat trick. Blake James, Sam Fleming and Dylan Winter took the remaining wickets as Union collapsed to be all out for eighty one runs.

Waitaki Boys in a low scoring game defeated Valley by sixty one runs. Batting first Francois Mostert player/coach for Waitaki Boys made thirty six as Valley led by Cameron Grubb dismissed the school side for 136 with Grubb taking four for twelve.

Valley lasted just twenty one overs as it was dismissed for eighty one withy Ben Mavor taking six for eleven off five overs as Valley slumped to be all out for seventy five with  Grubb making twenty nine of those runs.
