Last season's Borton Cup winners, Oamaru-St Kevin's College, will play the Waitaki Boys' High School First X1 in the Borton Cup semi-finals next weekend, while Union will face Albion in the other semi-final.

Batting first at King George Park, Union batsmen took their toll on the Valley bowling as a weakened Valley bowling attack conceded a massive target.

Sam Bastin and Duncan Drew set a Union club record for the fifth wicket, scoring 182 runs. Bastin went on to make 113 (17 fours, three sixes), while Drew hit 12 boundaries in his innings. The previous fifth wicket record was 139, scored by Ali Fanene and Gordon Lemon in 1995.

Union captain Brad Fleming added 42 runs.

For a depleted Valley side, Hamish McKenzie took five for 46 and Liam Mavor took three for 54.

Valley wicketkeeper batsman Lachie Kingan, with 47, scored almost half of Valley's 100-run total. For Union, Blake James took two for 18, Brad Fleming four for 11 and Glynn Cameron two for 42 as Valley was dismissed in the 26th over.

Out at Whitestone stadium inner ground, Oamaru-St Kevin's, batting first against Albion, made 215, inspired by an innings of 94 from Craig Smith, who was well supported by Zac Naldrett (39).

For Albion, Amber Cunningham claimed three for 37, Jonty Naylor took three for 20 and Regan George two for 26.

Albion was bundled out for 138, Naylor leading the way with 41. For Oamaru-St Kevin's, Smith took two for 18, Stephan Grobler three for 22 and Reece Curle two for 20.
