Union remains unbeaten in Borton Cup cricket with a nine-wicket win over St Kevin's College in the seventh round on Saturday. Valley moved into fourth equal with Albion with a seven-wicket win over Oamaru, while Albion beat Waitaki Boys' by 55 runs.

St Kevin's decided to bat first against Union and after 11 overs was 32 for two. While Mike Seddon (34) was at the crease the school had some hope but Union bowlers Paul Johnston (four for 14) and Isaac Shields (three for 27) saw St Kevin's dismissed in the 39th over for 105.

An unbeaten 59 from opener Antony Cromwell, who was backed up by Todd (25), saw Union through to 106 for one.

Oamaru batted first against Valley at Weston but only all-rounder Gary Clearwater (54 not out) showed form as Oamaru slumped to be all out for 102. Nick Kelland took five for 12 off nine overs while Sean Todd claimed two for 24.

Solid innings from Dean Malcolm (34 not out) and Geoff Mavor (23 not out) carried Valley through to 103 for three, Clearwater taking three for 34 off his 10 overs.

Waitaki Boys' asked Albion to bat first. A flourishing 86 from Chris Cunningham and 36 from Darren Shillito saw Albion make 235 before losing its 10th wicket in the 44th over. Sam Wicks impressed with four for 44 off 9.5 overs, while Riley Rooney took two for 41 off his 10 overs.

Lachie Kingan and Jake Greenslade(47) featured in an opening stand of 50. A determined Waitaki batted through its 50 overs to be 180 for nine at the end of the innings, Rooney (22) and Gordon Upton (22) adding valuable runs.

Ricky Whyte finished with three for 49, while Dylan Winter, Gareth Duncan and Scott Guyton took two wickets each.
