North Otago v. Hawkes Bay
The North Otago Primary Reps team celebrate the last wicket in the victory over West Coast in Westport.
Tuesday, 6 December 1932

The match between the North Otago team and the Hawke's Bay representative side was begun to-day on the School ground. The visitors batted first on a good and easy wicket but runs came slowly, the opening bowlers Zimmerman and Maddigan preserving a good length and keep the batsmen mainly on the defensive. Mahoney went early though putting his leg in front of a straight one from Zimmerman, who bowled Browne with his next ball. O'Brien, who followed, shaped more confidently and used his great reach in playing forward. He drove sweetly, his timing being good, Brown who relieved Maddigan and Finlayson, who did not seem to be seeing the ball well, was dismissed by the lbw route. Davey had an over which cost nine runs, and Carrington then relieved him, Ellis had just reached double figures when he played Carrington on. Then it Brown's turn to go, leg before to Zimmerman, who had displaced Carrington. Maddigan took over from Brown and Barlow fell to a wonderful catch by McDonald in the slips, one-handed at the extreme limit of his reach. Beuth was the victim of a yorker bowled by Maddigan and in the last over before lunch Elliot was stumped off Smith, so that at the adjournment Hawke's Bay had lost eight wickets for 90.
