With a lead of 25 runs on the first innings, the North Otago eleven beat Otago in the one-day match played at King George's Park yesterday. Conditions were not conductive to bright cricket, but there were one or two good displays of batting by Cavanagh, Matheson, and McGregor for Otago, and by Inder, Robertson, Catto and Milnes for North Otago. Good bowling averages were secured by Matheson (two for 16) and Cavanagh (three for 26) for Otago, and Inder (four for 37), Hodge (two for 9) and McDonald (two for 24) were effective for North Otago. Otago batted first and made 153, being all out before luncheon adjournment North Otago batted until 4.20 p.m. and compiled 178, Inder being the backbone of the side and playing an attractive innings for his 52, which included four sixes and several fours.
