North Otago, having comparatively failed in the first innings against Central, made a really commendable attempt to make 210 in 180 minutes, a task in which it failed by 12 runs within eight minutes of stumps. R. Mitchell batted well in both innings and he and Cartwright gave the local side a substantial start, aided by Grant, Johnston and Murray. Later Kelman and Cubitt raised local hopes. Wanting 28 runs to win, Wilson with a sprained ankle was the last man in, and Kelman almost pulled the game off before he was through out by McKnight in a splendid piece of fielding.
