North Otago beat Ashburton by 20 runs in a Cyclone Hawke Cup series cricket match at Centennial Park yesterday.

After winning the toss, North Otago captain Bob Wilson put his team in to bat on Saturday.

Wilson was the first to go with the score at 25. He made 18 during the opening stand.

The highlight of the North Otago innings, a controlled 103 from Lindsay Robertson, was scored in 216 minutes before he was dismissed leg before wicket by W. Eddington for 103. His innings included 14 four and a six.

North Otago batted through to just before stumps on Saturday before being dismissed for 265.

At stumps on the first day Ashburton had scored 22 without loss.

Ashburton batsmen picked up the run rate on Sunday when E. Cunningham came to the crease. With team mate D. Mably 90 runs were added before Cunningham lost his wicket to Neville Donaldson lbw for 70.

A three wicket collapse with the score at 148 put pressure on the lower order batsmen and although Spicer and B. Davidson added 71 runs before Ashburton was all out for 245.
