Former Black Caps and Otago strike bowler David Sewell (Oamaru) was named Cricketer of the Year at a function at the Excelsior club on Saturday night. Sewell also took the award for the outstanding performance in represented cricket for his bowling against Central Otago in its second innings in Oamaru.
Valleys Tony Gray was named best representive performer on/off the field, while Stu Dean, Jeff Grubb and Geoff McLelland received awards for services to North Otago cricket.
In senior club cricket, Tony Gray was named best all-rounder with 32 wickets and 229 runs; Kelvin Mansfield was named senior club batsman of the year with 364 runs, while David Sewell took the bowlers award with 35 wickets. Jordan Horrell and Ben Cant were named junior cricketers of the year.
