Oamaru and Albion won their matches in the fourth round of Dick Hunt Trophy cricket, a holiday competition. Oamaru beat Valley by 18 runs and Albion downed Union by 120 runs.
Oamaru registered its first win of the season when in the first round of Dick Hunt Trophy cricket it defeated Valley at Weston Park by 18 runs. Oamaru won the toss and with Regan George (43) batting solidly struggled through to 121 before the final wicket fell in the 46th over. Hayden Tisdall was the pick of the Valley bowlers taking three for eight off six overs while Geoff Mavor, Mark Broughton and Andrew Fisher took two wickets each.
A devastating spell of bowling from Nathan Smith saw Valley dismissed for 103 with Nick Webster topscoring with 26. Smith finished with seven for 27,with Paul Holmes claiming two for 28 as Oamaru took the win by 18 runs.
Union put Albion in to bat at Whitestone Contracting stadium. Albion lost two early wickets to be 20 for two after 14 overs but Peter Cartwright (53) and Brad Kernahan (52) featured in a fourth wicket stand of 96 to see the side through to 198 before the tenth wicket fell in the 44th over. Matt Lilley was the best of the Union bowlers taking four for 29 while Glynn Cameron and Phil Crossan took two wickets each.
Union lasted only 21 overs before it was dismissed for 78 with Jeremy Smith taking three for 18 and Kernahan two for 21.
