Albion won the Tui 20/20 tournament at Whitestone Contracting stadium on Saturday beating Union by ten runs in the final. In the playoff for third and fourth Valley beat Oamaru by three wickets.
In the first round Albion beat Valley by three wickets. Batting first Valley made 108 being all out in the 18th over with Mark Burton(39) and Hamish McKenzie(21) the pick of the batsmen while Ricky Whyte claimed five for 14 off his four overs and Scott Guyton and Tom Dwyer took two wickets each for Albion.
Albion passed the Valley total in the 20th over to be 109 for seven with Brad Kernahan(29) and Hayden McKenzie(26) top scoring for Albion. Blair Malcolm took three for 11 for Valley.
Oamaru batted first against Union and made 97 for nine in its 20 overs. Riley Rooney took four for 18 off his four overs for Union with Phil Crossan and Glynn Cameron taking two wickets each.
Union passed the Oamaru total in the 19th over with opener Jeremiah Shields top scoring with 21. Stephan Grobler, Jordan Horrell and Paul Holmes took two wickets each for Oamaru.
In the final tight bowling by Albion subdued the Union batsmen with Albion taking the honours by ten runs. Batting first Albion batted through its 20 overs to be 110 for seven. Brad Kernahan(31) and Steve Halliwell(25) featured in a half century stand for the fifth wicket while bowling for Union Matt Lilley took three for 15 and Glynn Cameron three for 18.
Union lost openers Riley Rooney and Jeremiahs Shields in the first two overs and tight bowling and fine fielding never allowed Union to build up any momentum. Thomas Shields top scored with 22 while Tom Hornweg and Tom Dwyer took two wickets each.
In the playoff for third and fourth Oamaru made 119 for six in its 20 overs with Jordan Horrell(26), James Mallinson(23) and Jordan Bartlett(30 not out) making valuable contributions while Tom Squire and Daniel Suddaby took two wickets each for Valley.
Valley passed the Oamaru total in the 18th over with Hayden Tisdall(34) and Blair Malcolm(27) leading the way. Bowling for Oamaru Jordan Horrell took three for 29 and Anthony Sewell, two for 32.
