Albion and Union to clash in Dick Hunt Final

Union and Albion will meet in the Dick Hunt trophy final next Saturday after both had wins in the final qualifying round last weekend. Albion beat Valley by eight wickets at Awamoa Park while Union accounted for  Oamaru by  five wickets at King George Park.
Ricky Whyte knocked the top off the Valley innings taking two for 13 to have Valley 21 for two after eight overs. Nathan Smith (28) was the only Valley batsman to reach the twenties with Whyte finishing with three for 21, Scott Guyton, two for eight and Whyte, three for 19.
Unbeaten innings from Peter Cartwright(26 not out) and Brad Kernahan(34 not out) saw Albion through to 88 for two in the 18th over.
A gallant innings from Gary Makuika(73) was not enough to give Oamaru a win over Union. Batting first Oamaru batted through its 50 overs to make 157 for nine with Riley Rooney taking two for 20 and Paul Johnston, three for 17.
Neville Donaldson filling in on the day  topscored with 37 for Union as it raced through to 158 for four in 30 overs. Thomas Shields(22) and Paul Johnston(22) batted solidly while Mark Julius took two for 27 for Oamaru.
