North Otago celebrate taking a wicket against Southland

A 120 run opening stand between James Cutt(45) and Duncan Drew(72) laid the foundation for North Otago's win over South Canterbury in a 50 over game played in Timaru yesterday. Glen Paterson added a solid 47 while Ben Miller was the pick of the South Canterbury bowlers taking four for 35.

North Otago restricted South Canterbury to 177 before the tenth wicket fell to the penultimate ball of the 45th over. Batting for South Canterbury James Laming(39) and Kevin Teahen(31) were the pick of the batsmen. Bowling for North Otago Jordan Horrell took three for 47.

A massive 170 runs from the bat of Alex McKenzie enabled South Canterbury Under 19 to make 337 for six in its 50 overs against North Otago B. Tim Boucher(31), Hamish Matthews(33) and Liam Crowley(30) were the other major contributors with Dan Conlan taking three for 20 for North Otago B.

North Otago B in reply was dismissed for 238 in the 50th over. Bent Cant(61) and Jeremiah Shields(47) featured in an opening stand of 94 but apart from Sean Conlan(41) the remainder of the batsmen failed to fire. Alex McKenzie took two for 29 and Tim Boucher two for nine for South Canterbury B.

South Canterbury Under 19 337 for six(50 overs) ( A McKenzie 170, H Matthews 33, L Crowley 30, T Boucher 31; D Conlan three for 20) beat North Otago B 238 all out ( B Cant 61, J Shields47, S Conlan 41; A McKenzie two for 29, T Boucher two for nine.
