Three centuries to Albion's Brad Kernahan (113), St Kevin's College's Shawn Kelliher (111 not out) and Union's Jason Todd (114) highlighted the weekend's round of Borton Club Cricket.
Union remains co-leader with Waitaki Boy's High School with a five-wicket win over Valley. Batting first Valley was dismissed for 194 with Hamish McKenzie (50), Nick Webster (31) and Dean Malcolm (22) the best of the batsmen, while Paul Johnston took four for 44, and Brad Fleming, Isaac Shields and Craig Campbell took two wickets each.
Todd dominated the Valley attack with his innings to take Union through to 199 for five. Reuben Simpson and Nick Kelland took two wickets each.
With Kernahan hammering the St Kevin's bowling attack for his century, Albion was dismissed for 317 in the 47th over with credit going to the St Kevin's bowlers, who after a couple of low patches took Albion's 10 wickets. Steve Halliwell (74) made the most of his opportunities, while bowling for St Kevin's, Brady Kingan took three for 35 and Jackson Reid three for 56.
St Kevin's lost captain Brodie Flannery after only two balls but determined batting from Adam Blakely (25) and a superb unbeaten 111 from Kelliher enabled the College side to make a more-than-respectable 208 before the side was dismissed in the 45th over. Kernahan, Tom Hoornweg and Tom Dwyer took two wickets each for Albion.
Waitaki Boys' High School retained its co-leadership with a 73-run win over a depleted Oamaru side. Oamaru won the toss and asked Waitaki Boys to bat first and solid batting from George Upton (57 not out), Nathan Smith (49, Jake Greenslade (33) and Lachie Kingan (23) saw the side through to 256 for nine in its 50 overs. James Mallinson, Regan George and Matt Murphy took two wickets each. Gary Mahuika (65) tried to hold Oamaru together but the side was dismissed for 183 in the 34th over with Paul Holmes (37) and Andrew Ashton (20 not out) in support.
