Thunder and heavy rain mid-afternoon forced the abandonment of both Borton Cup matches being played on artificial pitches.

Union won the toss and batted first against Valley and when the rain fell was 163 for six. Duncan Drew had brought up his half-century.

Oamaru won the toss and batted first against Albion. When rain stopped play after 38 overs, Oamaru was 183 for eight and Regan George (49) and Matt Murphy (48) were scoring freely. Brad Kernahan had taken five for 26 off six overs.

All four teams recive five points for the abandoned matches.
