North Otago defeated Mid Canterbury in its first Hawke Cup warm up game yesterday at Milner Park by four wickets in a fifty over game played in damp conditions. Batting first Mid Canterbury made 153 before the final wicket fell in the forty fourth over with Ryan Cowburn top scoring with 29. Bowling for North Otago Brad Fleming took three for 19 off eight overs while Cameron Grubb and Jordan Horrell claimed two wickets each.North Otago struggled to develop momentum and lost its first six wickets with only eighty runs on the board before Francois Mostert(52 not out) and Brady Kingan(34 not out) produced an unbeaten stand for the seventh wicket ofseventy five to carry North Otago past the Mid Canterbury target in the forty sixth over.
