North Otago won the toss at the Ashburton Domain on Sunday against Mid Canterbury in a Hawke Cup warm up game and after deciding to bat was dismissed for 132 in the fiftieth over.Only three North Otago batsmen handled the Mid Canterbury bowling attack with any confidence. Francois Mostert led the way with 35 and he was backed up by Dallas Mahuika(22) and Jeremy Smith(21). Bowling for Mid Canterbury Harry Jones took three for 28 and Jason Morrison, two for 24.
Mid Canterbury made a solid start to be fifty for two but slumped to 101 for seven as Craig Smith took five for thirty one off twelve overs. The Mid Canterbury innings stuttered through to 128 for eight before Nortrh Otago claimed the two vital wickets. Francois Mostert took four for ten off his ten overs with Jeremy Smith taking the other wicket.
