Valley reproduced it last seasons form when it defeated Albion at Weston Park by twenty runs in a low scoring game to take the Dick Hunt trophy. Valley had beaten Albion in last years final and the previous week in the final qualifying round had beaten Albion by five wickets.

Valley batted first in the final and some tight bowling by Albion restricted Valley to 125 before the final wicket fell in the thirty eighth over. Francois Mostert back from Hawke Cup duty was unbeaten on 45 with Mark Newton adding an invaluable 28. For Albion Ricky Whyte and Dylan Winter took three wickets each and Jeremy Smith and Kerry Weir picked up a couple of victims. Jeremy Smith(26) early in the innings raised Albion's hopes but his dismissal saw Albion slump to eighty three for seven. Jonty Naylor(43) upped the rate but when he lost his wicket at 101 Albion's hopes dropped with the final wicket falling at 105 in the thirty second over. Mostert produced a superb spell of bowling. His first seven overs saw him take three for two with one of the two runs conceded being a wide. His final figures off 8.2 overs, five of which were maidens, saw him take six for five. At the other end Cameron Grubb took three for 32 off his ten overs.

Valley made it a double when it took the second grade title beating Oamaru by eighty eight runs. Batting first Valley made 210 for six with Roly Senior(58), Tim Petrie(37) and Kelvin Mansfield(21) while bowling for Oamaru Connor Lough took two for fifty seven. Oamaru was dismissed for 122 with Andrew Simpson(26 not out) and Lough(23) the best of the batsmen while bowling for Valley Ben Mavor took three for 15 and Jonty Mattews, three for 12.
