Oamaru will play Valley and Union will play St Kevin’s in the Borton Cup Semi-Finals after the final round was completed today.
Valley played Albion, a win for either side confirming a place in the semi-finals. Scoring freely, Valley reached 290/8 in 50 overs. Opener Jack Price scored 69, Lachlan Kingan 22, while Shannon Dunnet 54 and Dallas Mahuika 52 combined putting on 102 for the 5th wicket. For Albion Amal Asok took 3-53 and Ricky Whyte 2-48.
Albion could only muster 154/10 in 35.1 overs, opener Stu Slack scoring 56. Jake Matthews was in fine form taking 6-38 of his 10 overs and Angus Ruddenklau 2-47. A win to Valley by 136 runs who will play Oamaru next week, who as top qualifiers win the D.G. Sewell Shield and are the minor premiers.
With the Payne Tempero Cup on the line, St Kevin’s played Waitaki Boys at home. Only Logan Wilson 22 made any score of note as Waitaki was bowled out for 73 in the 25th over. Spinner Ben Kay took 5-19, his second five-wicket innings in the Borton Cup this season, and was supported by Josh Phipps who took 3-21.
St Kevin’s overcame the required target in 17.2 overs, with Harry Murphy making 25. The Payne Tempero Cup retained for the winter; they move on to their Semi-Final against Union this coming Saturday.
Their opponents for next week played Glenavy at King George Park. Glenavy struggled for momentum as they were bowled out for 116 in 41.2 overs. Stafford Adams reached 34 and Ethan Booth 24. Duncan Drew and Garry Singh both took 3-21, Blake James 2-14, and Jordy Whyte 2-17.
Union passed the required total 4 wickets down in the 21st over, Drew made 34, Kane Mclauchlan, Garry Singh, and Jeremiah Shields all got 22. Zach Graham took 2-25.
