Oamaru will play top qualifier Union in the Borton Cup cricket final next Saturday after Oamaru beat Albion by five wickets in the semi final on Saturday. Albion won the toss and decided to bat first in the 45 over match. It found runs had to get against the pace of David Sewell whose three for five off his first five overs had Albion reeling at 38 for three after just nine overs. Albion never really recovered from the Sewell onslaught and wickets fell regularly,72 for four after 15 overs, 99 for five after 21 overs and 128 for nine after 27 overs with only all-rounder Paul O'Dell(42) showing any real grit at the crease. The tenth wicket fell at 138 with Sewell finishing with three for eight off seven overs, while Jamie Ferris, Nick Johnston and Paul Selbie took two wickets each.

Oamaru lost openers Josh Gutsell and Robbie Hill early in the innings to be 28 for two after nine overs but Ferris was to be the anchor man of the Oamaru innings. Coming in at first drop Ferris made a superb 82 before he lost his wicket but Oamaru through his effort with the bat cruised through to 140 for five and a place in the final.
