The third round of Borton Cup cricket had two comfortable victories while the other saw a close-fought match.
The match of the round was played at King George Park, as the Payne Tempero Cup was on the line.
Losing the toss Oamaru amassed 237 all out in 50 overs. Dominating the innings Stephan Grobler 71 combined with Sijo Devassy 46 for 113 runs for the 6th wicket. Earlier Quinn Wadle 47 and Lachlan Brookes 28 had made good contributions. Blake James took 4-31, Brad Fleming 3-34 and Scott Kitto 2-49.
Union struggled to get ahead of the run rate throughout the innings. James made 56, openers Jeremiah 35 and Thomas Shields 21, while Fleming 34 gave Union a glimmer of hope late in the innings. Grobler took 4-28, Wardle 2-37, Nick Johnson 2-42 and Brad Flint 2.50. Union all out for 206 in the 49th over.
At Weston, Valley was bowled out for a paltry 51 in the 20th over as it chased 157 for victory. Jacob Fowler 2-11 and Lloyd Fellowes 3-14 took wickets at will, while they were backed up by Liam Direen 2-9 and Flynn Sanford 2-3 of 5 balls who cleaned up the tail.
Earlier St Kevins had been bowled out for 156 in 46 overs. Toby Growcott 30, top scored, Lian Direen made 25, and Jacob Fowler 20. Liam Mavor took 4-39, Dallas Mahuika 2-42 and Ben Kay 2-29.
Glenavy made it two from two at home with a 143-run victory over Albion.
Batting first they reached 255/8 of 50 overs with Rodney van Leeuwen scoring 73 of 29 balls, at the top of the order Matt Tangney made 54, Ryan Moffat 38, and Kurt Thomas 27. Hayden Creedy took 3-61 and Tom Squire 2-25.
In its chase, Albon was all out for 112 in 30 overs. Albert Francis 37 top scored, while the evergreen Ricky Whyte notched up 22 not out. Thomas taking 4-21.
