The final round of the Borton Cup before the holiday break was played in the weekend with Union, Albon and Oamaru claiming wins over St Kevins, Waitaki Boys and Valley respectively.
Union took on a depleted St Kevins side, starting slowly, but piling on the runs later in the innings. Duncan Drew recorded 12th century for the club with 100, and Thomas Shields reached 62. Drew and Shields putting on 143 for the second wicket. Nick Kelly taking 4-42 of his 7 overs. Union 232/8 in their 50 overs.
St Kevins started badly being 16-3. Campbell Fowler 44 and Liam Cameron 23 steadied the innings but with the loss of Cameron the tail folded quickly. Union taking 38 overs bowl St Kevins all out for 138. Drew finishing with 6-16 and Blake James took 2-8.
Albion had it first win of the season defeating Waitaki by 6 wickets.
Waitaki were dismissed for 116 in 34 overs, Logan Wilson top scored with 41, Blake White 24 and Billy Wilson 2-33. Hayden Creedy 3-36, Ricky White 3-12 and Tom Squire 3-23 took three wickets each.
Albion took 29 overs to reach 117/4, with Creedy 30no and Aneesh Bose 22no. Sabraeesh Ramesh earlier had scored 20.
Oamaru reached 237 all out in 47 overs. Reece Curle 45 was promoted to opening the batting, while Luke Taylor 55 top scored for the innings. Asanka Gamlathge 37 and Lachlan Brookes 21 also put in good contributions. For Valley Tom Pitchford 2-28, George Mavor 2-47 and Hamish McKenzie 2-59 took two wickets each.
Captain Jack Price was the sole batsman at the top of the Valley innings to get established making 52, youngster Cohen McLachlan 32 and Glynn Cameron 48. Valley all out for 184 in the 50th over. Curle taking 4-32, Regan George 2-23 and Bradley Flint 2-52.
The previous evening the first round of the Dick Hunt Rosebowl Holiday Competition got underway, with Oamaru defeating Albion and Glenavy beat Valley.
