In the latest round of Borton Cup cricket, Oamaru had a comfortable win over Albion, Waitaki defeated Glenavy and Union won against Valley.
Oamaru pilled on the runs batting first against Albion. Nick Johnston provided an anchor reaching 63, and Luke Taylor made sure they accelerated later in the innings as he reached 63 of only 38 balls. Jordan Bartlett contributed 29 not out of 19 balls, Lachlan Brookes 34 and Bradley Flint 36 as Oamaru made 261/4 of their 50 overs.
Ricky Whyte took 2-34 of his 10 overs.
Albion struggled chasing 262 for victory, Oamaru taking constant wickets. Lower-order batsman Aneesh Bose notched up 30 and tail-ender Ricky Whyte 30, while Tarras Beardsmore made 29. Albion all out for 150 in 36 overs.
Flint took 3-35, Johnston 3-39 and Robbie Breen 3-22.
Against Glenavy, Watiaki Boys was all out for 154in 36 overs batting first. Ike Carter, at 10, made the only score of note of 28.
Zach Graham took 3-23, Hamish McCulloch 2-15 and Harry Murphy 2-36.
Despite contributions from Jordan Mulligan 47 and in-form Murphy with 40, Glenavy was short of the required target by 16 runs. All out for 138 in 29 overs.
Blake White took 2-48, while player-coach Jordan Horrell took 2-12.
At Weston, Union won a low-scoring match against Valley.
Valley got off to a fast start, reaching 62-1 in the 8th over, but then lost nine wickets for 61 runs. Captain Jack Price top scored with 52. Valley all out for 123 in 28 overs.
For Union Brad Fleming took 3-12, Jake Greenslade 2-11, Daniel Martin 2-27 and Anuj Mishra 2-36.
Union lost early wickets, but a 5th wicket 50-run partnership between Greenslade 26 and Fleming 37 then put them firmly in control. Union surpassed Valley with two wickets in hand after losing three wickets with less than 5 runs required for victory.
Ben Kay took 4-24, Angus Ruddenklau 2-22 and Liam Mavor 2-34.
