The final round of Borton Cup cricket before the semi-finals was played in the weekend with Liam Direen and Anesh Bose both scoring centuries, while Daniel Martin took five wickets for the first time at senior level.

Union won the toss and batted first on the artificial at Glenavy, reaching 272/6 of their 50 overs. Duncan Drew top scored with 77, Blake James 39 and Scott Kitto 31. Brad Fleming pushed the score along in the final overs being 46 not out of 38 balls at the end of the innings.

Harry Murphy took 3-45 and Hamish McCulloch 2-51.

In reply Glenavy was well short, bowled out for 106 in 28 overs. For Union Daniel Martin took 5-30, his first five wicket bag at senior level, Scott Kitto took 3-6 and Anuj Mishra finished with 2-25. Jordon Mulligan scored 31 and Matt Tangney 26.

A nine-man team Albion won the toss and elected to bat first against St Kevins at the College. Led by a fine 132 from Aneesh Bose of 101 balls, they reached 273 all out in the 44th over. He was supported by Tarras Beardsmore 37, Angrej Singh 25 and Sabareesh Ramesh 22. Campbell Fowler took 3-57 of 6.4 overs.

St Kevins got of to a fast start thanks to 70 of 37 balls from Campbell Fowler. Albion still fought on and looked to be bringing itself into the game having St Kevins 172-6, before Liam Direen saw his side home with 117 not out of 83 balls. St Kevins fishing with 276/6 in 36 overs.

For Albion Tom Squire took 3-40 of 10 overs, and Jacob Davies 2-87 of eight.

Valley defaulted their game against Waitaki Boys High School.

Next weekend St Kevins will play Union at St Kevins and top qualifier Oamaru will play Glenavy at Centennial Park in the Borton Cup Semi-Finals.
