Union climbed to the sole top of the Dick Hunt Memorial competition points table on Friday night with a five-wicket victory over Albion. Meanwhile, Oamaru joined Albion in second place after securing a narrow two-wicket win over Glenavy.

Albion won the toss and chose to bat on the Centennial Park outer oval but were bowled out for 120 in the 19th over. Key contributions came from Tarras Beardsmore (20), Aneesh Bose (40), and Jikku Joseph (22).

Union employed nine bowlers during the innings, with Blake Martin leading the attack, claiming 3/7 from 3.3 overs. Liam Mavor took 2-13.

In the chase, Blake Martin top-scored with a quickfire 36 off 22 balls, supported by Thomas Anderson with 26 and Alex Wilson with 21. Union sealed a five-wicket victory, reaching 122/5 in the 19th over.

At the Glenavy Domain, the home team won the toss and chose to bat first. The innings revolved around veteran Jeremiah Shields, who delivered a standout performance with an unbeaten 70 off 60 balls the highest score of the weekend. Glenavy batted their 20 overs, finishing at 115/8.

For Oamaru, Lachlan Brookes claimed 2-26 from his four overs, while Reece Curle took 2-12 off three, and Hunter Wardle with 2-6 from three overs.

Oamaru's chase was anchored by veteran Stephan Grobler, who scored a fluent 52 off 37 balls, with fellow Hawke Cup teammate Nick Johnston contributing 37 off 29. At 104/3, Oamaru appeared to be cruising to a comfortable victory, but a sudden collapse losing five wickets for just nine runs turned the game into a tense finish. Despite the stumble, Oamaru reached 116/8 in 18 overs to secure a narrow two-wicket win.

For Glenavy Harry Murphy took 4-24 of 4 overs, and Nijam 2-33 of four.
