The Oamaru "B" team journeyed to Ngapara yesterday to try conclusions with the Ngapara and Maerewhenua team. D. Aitken, the local captain, won the toss, and sent Oamaru in to bat, who , on account of the splendid trundling of Nimmo (4 for 10), and Sherriffs (4 for 7), backed up by the excellent field of the local men, were all disposed of for 20. Every chance was accepted by the fielders, and some wonderful catches were made, especially that by which Mitchell disposed of Wadell. Mowbray (5) was the only player who played with any confidence for the vistors. Ngapara and Maerewhenua did not start very well, but mainly through the splendid defence of Nimmo, they managed to top the Oamaru score. Ross (6 for 16) and Mr Holmes (3 for 8) divided the bowling honors. On Oamaru facing the bowling again runs came freely, and Mowbray declared the innings closed at 1 wicket for 43 - Borton (not out) 24, and Ross (not out) 18, leaving Ngapara-Maerewhenua 36 to win, and 40 minutes to bat. By stubborn batting hey managed to make 20 at the cost of 6 wickets, thus winning the match by 9 runs on the first innings. An enjoyable tea was provided by the Ngapara men, and the Oamaru men returned to town singing "God Save the Queen" well satisfied with a most enjoyable day.
