The North Otago Cricket Association has announced that it will be employing two professional coaches for the forthcoming 2010-2011 season. Richard Turner a 25 year old Englishman will be coaching and playing for St Kevin's while Sean Eathorne will be domiciled at Waitaki Boys High School playing for their 1st XI.
Richard Turner has captained the Fulwood & Broughton Cricket Club first XI in Lancashire for the last three seasons and is a top order batsman and fast medium bowler. He completed a BA with honours at Lancashire University in 2008. He is also a level two qualified ECB coach.
Sean Eathorne has played his club cricket in Dunedin, last season captaining the Carisbrook-Dunedin Club premier team. He represented New Zealand at under 19 level and has been a fringe player for the Otago Volts for the past three seasons. Sean, last season, represented North Otago in the Hawke Cup round robin and challenge fixtures scoring two centuries. Over the New Zealand winter he has been playing cricket at the Sparta Sports Club in Rotterdam along with local cricketer Sean Conlan.
North Otago Cricket chairman Peter Cameron said that he was excited to be able to employ two new coaches who are quality cricketers and they will be able to share their cricketing knowledge with local players of all ages.
North Otago's first zone round robin fixture is against South Canterbury in Timaru in the last weekend of November.
