Oamaru and Union are the only unbeaten teams in Borton Cup cricket after the playing of the second round over the weekend with wins over St Kevin's College and Waitaki Boys High School respectively.
St Kevin's won the toss against Oamaru and decided to bat first. Tim O'Connor was the best of the College batsmen top scoring with 34 as St Kevin's was dismissed for 129 in the 41st over. Andrew Sewell took three for 36 and Paul Selbie, Gary Clearwater and Khalil took two wickets each for Oamaru. Regan George(26) and David Sewell (24) saw Oamaru through to 131 for nine in the 37th over. Ben Rapson, Jeremy Smith and Tim O'Connor took two wickets each for St Kevin's.
Union put Waitaki Boys in to bat first and with player/coach Sean Eathorne putting on 110 and Lachie Kingan adding 22, Waitaki Boys made 226 for seven in its 50 overs. Dan Conlan, Duncan Drew and Chris Ware took two wickets each for Union. Mitchell Clarke(63) and Duncan Drew(66 not out) saw Union through to 227 for seven in the 49th over. Jeremiah Shields and Clarke added 58 for the first wicket while Clarke and Drew added 50 for the second wicket. Robert Rooney took three for 33 and Shaun Todd, two for 54 for Waitaki.
Albion scored a five wicket win over Valley at Awamoa Park. Albion put Valley into bat and dismissed the Weston based side for 102 in just 27 overs. Stan Mansfield top scored for Valley with 28 while Dion Walker took four for 20 and Ricky Whyte, three for 18.
Albion cruised through to 103 for five in 22 overs with Brad Kernahan top scoring with 45.
