Borton Cup leaders, Albion slumped to a 62 run loss to Oamaru on Saturday in a low scoring game at Awamoa Park. Valley moved into fourth equal with a 23 run win over Union while Waitaki Boys High School aided by 191 from Sean Eathorne defeated St Kevin's College by 229 runs.
Oamaru won the toss and decided to bat first on the all weather strip and at one stage was 35 for seven after 21 overs before Josh Gutsell (32 not out) guided the side through to 124 in the 27th over. Ricky Whyte took seven for 48 and Paul Odell two for 32 for Albion.
Albion lasted just 23 overs before it was dismissed for 62 with Gutsell taking five for 26 and David Sewell, four for 28.
Union asked Valley to bat first at St Kevin's College with the final wicket falling in the 50th over with the score at 215.Cameron Leckie (29) , Lachie Wettenhall (20) , Byron Nearle (30) and Hamish Lowe (21) were the best of the batsmen while Dan Conlan and Glynn Cameron took three wickets each for Union with Ben Cant claiming two for 32.
Cant (33) and Sean Conlan (38) were the best of the Union batsmen with Lowe, Hamish McKenzie and Will Bole taking three wickets each for Valley as Union was dismissed for 192.
Waitaki Boys made prolific use of its decision to bat first against St Kevin's College and with Sean Eathorne(191) in imperious form made 345 for seven in its 50 overs. Ryan Whitburn added 31 while with the ball for St Kevin's Hamish Slater took two for 41 and Brodie Flannery, two for 41.
St Kevin's was bundled out for 118 in the 32nd over with Jordan Bartlett(31), Tim Cotter(24) and Richard Turner(22) the most successful St Kevin's batsmen. Riley Rooney took four for 22 and Jason McGimpsey, four for 24 for Waitaki Boys.
