A bowling breakthrough by M. Barclay and G. Alabaster during the session of play enabled Southland to beat North Otago by 10 wickets in the representative cricket match yesterday.

Just when the game seemed poised to finish in a tame first innings win to Southland Alabaster and Barclay broke through the North otago second innings to leave Southland 74 runs to get in even time.

With Kevin O'Connor and Thompson showing little respect for the North Otago bowling the runs came up in 50 minutes.
