Oamaru won its first two rounds in the twenty/20 cricket competition being played over two weekends in Oamaru.
It beat Union in the first round by 33 runs on Saturday. Batting first, Oamaru made 126 for six in its 20 overs. Jody Horrell top-scoring with 47, while Jamie Ferris added 20.
Bowling for Union, Stu Dickinson took two for 29. Union in its 20 overs made 93 for eight with James Cutt making 25 and Duncan Drew 24. Nick Johnston claimed five for 13 and Horrell, two for 16.
Albion beat Valley by eight wickets in the other first-round game.
Valley, batting first made 101 for nine, Jason Frew leading the way with 27. Bowling for Albion, Brad Kernahan took two for nine, Ryan Welsh two for 25 and Darren Shillito three for 24.
Albion raced to 102 for two in just 11 overs. Jon Sinclair making 29, Peter Cartwright unbeaten on 42 and Brad Kernahan adding 25.
Oamaru beat Albion by three wickets in their second-round match.
Albion made 137-4, Sinclair and Kernahan both reaching 24, while Paul Odell was unbeaten on 37.Jamie Ferris took two for eight for Oamaru of his four overs.
Oamaru made 142 for seven with two overs to spare with Ferris (31) and Horrell (30) leading the way. Walsh took four for 36 for Albion.
Union defeated Valley by eight wickets in the other match.
Batting first, Valley was all out for 83 in the 20th over. Byron Neil top-scored with 23, while Chris Ware took two for five of his four overs and Phil Crossan claimed four for 11 off his four overs.
Union raced to 84 for two, Sean Conlon top-scoring with 23 and Sam Young taking two for 37 for Valley.
