Oamaru won the toss and elected to bat first and in its 20 overs accumulated 220 runs for the loss of six wickets.

Opener Josh Gutsell kick-started the Oamaru innings with a hard-hit 58. He combined with James Ferris (31) in a 50-run stand and then with Jordan Horrell piled on 114 runs for the fourth wicket.

Horrell was in imperious form with an unbeaten 89 which included nine sixes. Ben Cant was the most successful Valley bowler, taking four for 25.

Valley showed little inclination to chase the Oamaru total and batted through the 20 overs to be 84 for five, with Cant (38) and Scott Kingan (20) the pick of the batsman. Union defeated Albion by 32 runs.

Batting first, Union made 136 for four, with Duncan Drew top-scoring with 59 and Sean Conlon adding 32.

Albion at one stage was 69 for five in the 15th over but battled through to 104 for seven after 20 overs, mainly through the batting of Paul O'Dell (31) and Robbie Maxwell (28 not out).

Bowling for Union, Phil Crossan, Sean Conlon, and Stu Dickinson took two wickets each.
