Eastern beat Oamaru in Dick Hunt trophy cricket on Saturday by 46 runs at Palmerston. Eastern won the toss and batting first in the fifty over match made 231 before the final wicket fell in the fortieth over. The McLelland brothers Matt(49) and Ollie(36) paved the way with support coming from Daniel Oldham(35), Mike O’Connell(23) and Andrew Grubb(21). Bowling for Oamaru Josh Tonkin took three for 36 and Matt Murphy, three for 55. Oamaru was dismissed for 185 in the forty seventh over. Murphy top scored with 57, Regan George added a half century and Tonkin made 23. Bowling for Eastern Cameron Grubb took three for 24 and Ollie McLelland , two for 45.

Union gave Valley a thumping out at Weston Park winning by 152 runs. Batting first after being put in by Valley Union raced through to 246 before the final wicket fell in the forty seventh over. Dylan Edwards(39) set the tone early in the innings but it was Brad Fleming who set the innings alight with a forceful 81 while Mike Ormandy chipped in further down the order with an unbeaten 24.Bowling for Valley Hayden Tisdall took three for 25 while Hamish McKenzie, Nick Kelland, and Andrew Fisher took two wickets each.
