The status quo remains in Borton Cup cricket as far as points go with one round of qualifying play remaining next Saturday before the Borton Cup semifinals in a fortnights time. Six teams received five points each as rain saw an early abandonment of all three games. The Eastern/Valley gamewas abandoned before a ball was bowled at the Mill Domain, with heavy rain falling in the morning. The Union/Albion and Waitaki Boys/Oamaru-St Kevin's games were called of mid-afternoon as steady rain began to fall.
Albion put Union in to bat at King George Park and although Union lost opener Glynn Cameron early, Jake Greenslade (43) and Duncan Drew (60) quickly added 47 runs for the second wicket before Greenslade was dimissed. Sean Conlan (51) hit six fours and a six before Union was dismissed for 259 in the 49th over. Bowling for Albion, Jeremy Smith and Ricky Whyte took three wickets each and Ian Cooney claimed two for 38.
Waitaki Boys asked Oamaru/St Kevin's to bat first at Milner Park and aided by a 142-run fourth wicket stand between Ben Cant (71) and Regan George (56) Oamaru/SKC reached 220 for eight before rain stopped play in the 49th over. Dallas Mahuika and Nathan Smith took two wickets each for Waitaki Boys.
