Waitaki Boys High School 1st XI retained the Payne Tempero challenge trophy, defeating Union by eight wickets in a rain-affected match fought at Milner Park.
In the other Borton Cup game, between Valley and Oamaru/St Kevin's College, play was abandoned after 14 overs as the pitch surface was assessed as being dangerous after light rain.
Some accurate bowling from the Waitaki Boy's attack saw Union dismissed for 139 with opener Duncan Drew (27) and Isaac Shields (31) batting down the order.
Shields and Brad Fleming produced a valuable ninth wicket stand of 4, which gave the Union innings some respectability. Union lost its first wicket at 45 and then saw further wickets go with any signification contribution to the score before Shields and Fleming added some stability.
Bowling for Waitaki Boys, Hayden Creedy claimed four for 23, Blake James, three for 40 and Nathan Smith who has been named in the Otago A side to play Canterbury A in Rangiora on Tuesday along with Valley's Francois Mostert, took two for 21.
Further rain relays left Waitaki Boys the task of scoring 131 runs in 38 overs. An unbeaten 78 from player coach Stephan Grobler saw Waitaki Boys through to 134 for two, with opener Reece Petrie adding 20 while Smith was unbeaten on 19.
