Valley and Albion win on final day before summer

Valley and Albion scored wins on the final day of senior cricket prior to the holiday break. Valley batting first at Weston Park made 182 before the final wicket fell in the forty third over with Francis Mostert(83) continuing his fine form with the bat while Andrew Fisher added an invaluable 22 down the order. Bowling for Union Dan Conlan claimed four for 43, Hayden Creedy, three for 26 and Stephan Grobler, two for 25). Union ran out of overs needing eight runs from the final over but fell five runs short of victory. Glynn Cameron produced a solid 54 while Jake Greenslade(38) and Stephan Grobler(29) made encouraging contributions. Mostert took three for19 and Dallas Mahuika, two for 24.

Albion defeated Oamaru/St Kevin’s by seventy eight runs at the Centennial Park. Batting firs Albion made 208 with Matt Day(72) setting the pace while Nathan Smith(45) and Reece Curle(24) provided solid support. Bowling for Oamaru/St Kevin’s Ben Cant took five for 25 with Ricky Singh and Brady Kingan taking two wickets each. Cant(35), Kingan(35) and Reece Curle(24) were the best of the Oamaru batsmen while with the ball Ricky Whyte took two for 14 and Peter Cartwright(two for three) and Scott Guyton(four for four off nine balls)cleaned up the opposition line-up dismissing Oamaru/St Kevin’s for 130 in the thirty ninth over.
