With only one round of qualifying remaining in the Borton Cup Waitaki Boys maintained its number one position with a four wicket win over third placed Union at the KGP on Saturday. Batting first Union made 144 with Jake Greenslade(46) and Dylan Edwards(30) showing form with the bat. Bowling for Waitaki Boys Scott Kitto took three for 20 and Josh Haywood, two for 32. A fifth wicket stand of 106 between Jonty Naylor(50) and Blake James(50) turned the corner for the school side carrying it through to 145 for six. Dan Conlan took four for 36 and Matt Lilley, two for 24 for Union.

Valley retained its place in the top four with a ninety two run win over Oamaru/St Kevin’s at Weston Park. Batting first Valley made 274 for nine in its fifty overs with Hamish McKenzie(68), Scott Kingan(52 not out) and Angus Gibb(27) showing form. Bowling for Oamaru/St Kevin’s , Otago Volts, Craig Smith, now teaching at St Kevin’s College took three for 26 while Dylan Garraway and Jordan Bartlett took two wicket each. Despite a fine eighty one from Smith backed up by Bartlett(50) the combined side was dismissed for 182 with McKenzie taking three for 21 and Gibb and Cameron Grubb taking two wickets each.
