Union snatched victory from Oamaru in the clash between the two unbeaten teams in senior club cricket on Saturday by a mere two runs. Waitaki Boys High School had its first win of the season with a seven wicket win over Valley while Albion beat St Kevin's College also by seven wickets.

Oamaru put Union in to bat at Whitestone stadium number two ground and struck immediately having the visitors 29 for three after nine over's. Union struggled to 77 for six before Glynn Cameron(38) carried Union through to 141 before the final wicket fell in the 40th over. David Sewell again returned impressive figures taking four for nine off his ten over's receiving solid support from Khalil who took two for three off three over's.

Oamaru looked to be on target at 86 for three after 25 over's with Phil Crossan taking two for 39. Regan George (45) carried Oamaru through to what appeared to be a match winning situation at 132 for six. But it was the dribbly bowling for Duncan Drew which killed Oamaru's hopes as two wickets from Drew and one each from Ben Cant and Dan Conlan ousted Oamaru for 139. Drew finished with five for 37 off seven over's and Phil Crossan finished with two for 53.

Waitaki Boys asked Valley to bat first and only Scott Kingan (43), Neil Gilbert(28) and Geoff Mavor(27) showed any resistance as Valley was dismissed for 172 in the 37th over. The Sussex all-rounder, Matt Machan took three for 42 for Waitaki Boys with Jason McGimpsey claiming four for 38 and Adrian Myburgh two for 43.

Although Waitaki lost opener Myburgh early in the innings Machan (83 not out) and Lachie Kingan(34) guided Waitaki Boys to 173 for three for its seven wicket win.

Albion put St Kevin's College in to bat at the College top ground and St Kevin's struggled to 123 for five after 27 over's. Lancashire's Richard Turner the 25 year old pace bowler made 48 before St Kevin's was dismissed for 152 in the 36th over. Jesse Devon took five for 33 off seven over's for Albion while Brad Kernahan took three for 24, and Dylan Winter two for 17.

Albion started brightly taking 19 runs off the first four balls of the innings to race through to 156 for three with Marshall Smith(38 not out) and Peter Cartwright(36 not out) making light work of the chase. Turner took two of the three wickets.
