A strong L.D. Smith eleven, including seven recent Plunket Shield players, beat a North Otago team at Oamaru yesterday in a one-day game.

North Otago batted first and made 115. Smith's team replied with 188 for seven wickets at the close of play.

Although he was not bowling at full pace F.J. Cameron moved the ball a lot and whipped out North Otago's middle order and the tail.

B.R. Papps batted well for 33.

K. Ibadulla was out cheaply when Smith's elven batted, but S.N. McGregor (51) and M. Allan (41) added 88 for the second wicket. R Hendry also batted well.
