Union Maintains Lead

Union maintained its Borton Cup lead in Oamaru club cricket when it defeated Valley by eight wickets.

Batting first, Valley was dismissed for 84 in 25 overs. Union replied with 87 for two, and the match was over early.

Oamaru set Glenavy the task of scoring 227 to win. Siwach Lakshay (28), Pad Singh (50) and R Singh (29) batted well while Robert van Leeuen took four for 48 for Glenavy.

In reply, Glenavy was bundled out for 97, Kurt Thomas top-scoring with 27. The destroyers were Lakshay (five for 20) and Nick Johnston (three for 18).

Waitaki Boys’ High School defeated St Kevin's College by four wickets. Batting first, St Kevin's made 91 with Jess Valp top scoring with 21.

Liam Mavor (three for 26), Andrew Ruddenklau (two for 23) and Matthew Stewart (two for 9) did the damage with the ball.

Eli Johnson, 55 off 37 balls, and Angus Philpott, with 23, made the runs to claim victory while Lachlan Brookes (three for 36) and Ben Kay (two for 27) took wickets for St Kevin’s.
