Valley continued its winning run in the second half of the season winning the Tui 20/20 tournament at Whitestone stadium on Saturday beating Albion in the final by 27 runs while in the playoff for third and fourth Oamaru beat Union by 36 runs.
In the first round Valley won the toss against Union and batting first made 161 for seven in the 20 overs with Kelvin Mansfield giving the side a solid base with a fine innings of 77 with Tony Gray further down the order adding an unbeaten 26 as Valley went through to 161 for seven in its 20 overs.
Stu Dickinson, Glynn Cameron and Dan Conlan took two wickets each for Union.
Union could only manage 100 for nine in its 20 overs with James Cutt unbeaten on 25. Robbie Smith finished with three for 26 while Hamish McKenzie and Scott Young took two wickets each.
Oamaru won the toss and batting first against Albion was dismissed for 137 with four balls remaining to be bowled. Nathan Mitchell top scored with 43 while Regan George added 34, and bowling for Albion Dylan Winter took four for 23 while Blair Rawson and Paul O'Dell took two wickets each.
Albion passed the Oamaru total with eight balls remaining in the match for the loss of only four wickets. Jason Greaney added 23 up the order while Peter Cartwright with an unbeaten 42 carried his side past the target.
David Sewell took two for 15 for Oamaru.
Valley won the toss in the final and batting first against Albion made 163 for six in the 20 overs. Robbie Smith(21) and Nick Webster(34) gave the innings solid base and Mark Patterson with an unbeaten 71 added the icing. Daniel Fletcher took three for 26 for Albion off three overs, while wicketkeeper, Steve Halliwell picked up five catches behind the stumps for Albion.
After eight of the 20 overs Albion was 52 for three but struggled against the Valley attack spearheaded by captain James McNally who led the way with three for 23 off four overs. The final Albion wicket fell with eight balls remaining and the side 27 runs in arrears. The best of the Albion batsmen were Brad Kernahan(30), Dylan Winter(29) picked up the shot but unfortunately and Daniel Fletcher(22) while Tony Gray, Scott Young and Hamish McKenzie took two wickets each.
The playoff for third and fourth was won by Oamaru which won the toss and batting first made 172 for seven with some consistent batting from Khalil(32), Ben Coleman(24), Glen Paterson(23), Nathan Mitchell( 26) and Bevan Smith (20 not out).Glynn Cameron and Mike Ormandy took two wickets each for Union.
Union batted through it 20 overs but was 36 runs behind Oamaru at the conclusion of the innings. Paul Johnston(30 not out) and Dan Conlan(22 not out) were the pick of the batsmen. James McAuslin took two for 18 for Oamaru.
