In a move to help out the schools the first two weekends of cricket will see six twenty/20 matches played between the four club teams in the senior grade. With the school term starting in mid October, schools have struggled to provide teams for the first two rounds of club cricket, NOCA decided to have a complete round of cricket for the clubs. These games will be included as part of the Dick Hunt holiday competition played later in the season over the Christmas break, although the results will only be worth half the points of regular games. Bowlers will now be restricted to 9 overs in a move to encourage teams to spread the bowling duties around.
The move to twenty/20 cricket for the senior holiday competition has only lasted one season as it has been restored to a 45 over one day format. The Tui twenty/20 tournament will provide local senior club players the opportunity to play twenty/20 cricket during the year.
One other change has seen the format for the finals series reverted back to the top qualifier progressing straight through to the final while second and third play of in a sudden death semi-final to play in the final.
Lower grades will start on the 18th of October, retaining the same format from last season seeing Senior Reserve playing 45 overs and Second Grade 40 while both holiday competitions will be twenty/20 matches.
