Union remains the only unbeaten side in Borton Cup cricket after the playing of the third round on Saturday. Union beat St Kevin's College the only other unbeaten team going into the round by five wickets. Albion beat Waitaki Boys High School by four wickets at Milner Park while Oamaru beat Valley by 143 runs.

Union won the toss and put St Kevin's in to bat and St Kevin's openers Simon Butler(36) and Ben Cant(30) featured in an opening stand of 63. The St Kevin's middle order failed to build on the stand and after 43 of the 45 overs was 133 for seven with Sean Conlan adding 31 before the side was dismissed in the 45th over for 148. Paul Johnston took six for 35 off nine overs while Duncan Drew claimed two for 28 off ten overs.

Union openers James Cutt and Drew went cheaply to see Union 37 for two after 12 overs. The loss of Glynn Cameron playing his 200th game for Union and Thomas Shields saw Union slump to 73 for four after 25 overs. A hard hit unbeaten 54 from Jeremiah Shields saw Union safely through to 152 for five in the 40th over. Bowling for St Kevin's Brent O'Connor took two for 29 and Butler two for 37.

Waitaki Boys won the toss against Albion and decided to bat first at Milner Park. Opener Jordan Horrell made 25 before he was dismissed and after 13 overs Waitaki was 42 for three. Kieran Paterson(30) and Chris Ware(26) added 25 for the sixth wicket and Isaac Shields hit out boldly for his 45 before the final wicket fell in the 45th over with the total at 201.

Dylan Winter took three for 32, and Ryan Welsh, three for 41 for Albion.

Albion lost its opening pair cheaply and after 11 overs was 54 for two. Peter Cartwright with 23 runs took Albion through to 79 for three after 16 overs and Brad Kernahan(46) ,Paul O'Dell (55 not out) and Scott Guyton(28 not out) saw Albion through to 202 for six in the 44th over with O'Dell and Guyton featuring in an unbeaten stand of 55 for the seventh wicket. Stu Dickinson took two for 41 and Sean Todd, three for 59.

Valley won the toss and put Oamaru in to bat, a decision which really backfired as Oamaru raced through to 283 for seven in its 45 overs. Josh Gutsell(26) and Robbie Hill(20) gave Oamaru a solid start adding 45 for the first wicket. Gutsell then combined with Khalil(40) in a second wicket stand of 50 . Glen Paterson then added the icing with a fine 71 and with Khalil added 66 for the third wicket. After 45 overs Oamaru was 283 for seven with David Sewell unbeaten on 25 at the close of the innings. Craig Direen took three for 55 and Bruce Newlands, two for 45 for Valley.

After ten overs in its chase for 284 Valley was 44 for one. Byron Neil held the side together with his 58 while Neil Gilbert was unbeaten on 36 as Valley succumbed to be all out for 140 in the 34th over . Nick Johnston took five for 28 for Oamaru off his ten overs while Paul Selbie took two for 27 off seven overs.
