Albion defeated Oamaru convincingly in the Wild Buck 20/20 final played on Saturday by 88 runs on the Centennial Park outer oval.
Albion defeated Union in the semi finals by three runs. Batting first Albion made 138 for seven with Jeremy Smith(35), Ian Cooney(30) and Marshal Smith(26 not out) the pick of the batsmen while bowling for Union Glynn Cameron took three for 17. The Union batsmen wewre not up to the task with the side restricted to 135 for four with Duncan Drew(53) and Jake Greenslade(25) holding the side together. Ian Cooney took three for 19 for Albion.
In the other semi final Oamaru beat Valley by seven wickets. Batting first Valley made 183 for eight with Tom Squire(56), Lewie Johnson(40), Lachie Kingan(26) and Nick Webster(24) the main contributors.Oamaru led by 86 from Bent Cant and a supporting role from James Mallinson(33) cruised through top 184 for three in the nineteenth over. Hayden Tisdall took two for 29 for Valley.
In the final Albion won the toss and decided to bat first and made 148 for seven in its twenty overs. The feature of the innings was a fifth wicket stand of 65 between former Otago under 19 representative,Rhys Bailey(74) and Peter Cartwright(25). David Sewell marked his return top North Otago club cricket with two for 27 while Ben Cant claimed two for 20. Oamaru was bowled out for 60 win the thirteenth over with Ricky Whyte leading the way with four for 15 off three overs while Paul Odell, Jeremy Smith and Matt Day took two wickets each.
In the playoff for third and fourth Valley defeated Union by 32 runs. Batting first Valley made 195 for seven in its twenty overs with Tom Squire(60),Francois Mostert(51), Lewie Johnson(38) and Hayden Tisdall(22) amongst the runs while bowling for Union Brad Fleming took two for 29. Union after twenty overs was 163 for six with solid contributions coming from Stephan Grobler(47), Dylan Edwards(41 not out), Thomas Shields(24) and Jake Greenslade(21) . Bowling for Valley Hamish McKenzie and Josh Hayward took two wickets each.
