St Kevin's College scored an upset eight wicket win over Union in the final round of Borton Cup qualifying play but it was to no avail as Union had already qualified for the final on points. Oamaru beat a tenacious Valley side by 61 runs with its place in the semi finals already confirmed for next weekend and its semi final opponents, Albion beat Waitaki Boys High School by six wickets at Milner Park.

After winning the toss and deciding to bat at St Kevin's Union struggled for runs and was dismissed for 78 in 35 overs. Peter O'Malley took four for 23 for St Kevin's while Ben Cant claimed three for 21. St Kevin's College cruised through to 81 for three with Sean Conlan unbeaten on 19.

Oamaru won the toss and batting first raced through to 72 for four after 14 overs. After 31 overs Oamaru was 126 for five with Jamie Ferris leading the way with 24, Khalil continued compiling runs for Oamaru with 27 while David Sewell chipped in with 22 as Oamaru lost its final wicket at 181 in the 41st over. Hamish McKenzie and Scott Young took three wickets each for Valley.

Only a defiant unbeaten 70 from all-rounder John Blakely gave the Valley total of 120 some respectability after 39 overs Mark Creighton and Ferris took three wickets each for Oamaru while Sewell and Khalil took two each.

Waitaki Boys High School's winning of the toss was not a success as the side batting first after 17 overs had slumped to 74 for seven and the side was eventually all out for 93 in the 22nd over. Dylan Winter and Dan Fletcher took three wickets each for Albion with Fletcher at one stage taking three for four off four overs. Albion passed the Waitaki Boys total in the 22nd over at 96 for four with Paul O'Dell unbeaten on 41 while Chris Ware took three for 22 for Waitaki Boys.
