Albion and Union will play in the Dick Hunt Rosebowl holiday competition final this coming weekend after they finished first and second respectively at the end of the round-robin phase.
Albion took on the Oamaru Presidents XI at the outer oval, recording 164/8 in their 20 overs. Amal Asok 47 continued his fine form, while Ravi Lalai recorded 40 and Hayden Creedy 25. For the Presidents XI Harvinder Sandhu took 3-14.
The Presidents XI started well in its chase, Sarel Smit 22 and Kunal Mahajan 33 but struggled to continue the momentum. The Presidents XI finishing with 147/6. Asok backed up his earlier batting performance taking 2-16.
At King George Park, Valley won the toss and elected to field. Thomas Shields dominated the innings for Union making 94, while twin Jeremiah was 26 not out, their team totaling 166/7. Josh Phipps took 3-22, while Jake Matthews took 2-27.
Union looked to have the game well in hand but some lusty hitting, first from Jake Matthews 55, then Isaac Clunie 45 led their side home in the 19th over. Garry Singh took 3-13.
The final game of the round was played at Glenavy, the Oamaru Coaches XI winning the toss and batting first. Openers Stephan Grobler 37 and Ricky Singh 31 got their side of to a good start. Zach Naldrett contributed 31 at the end of the innings, the Coaches XI reaching 149/4 of 20 overs. Ethan Booth took 2-12.
Glenavy struggled in its chase and finished with 115/6 at the completion of its 20 overs. Zach Graham top scored with 34 and Ethan Booth reached 27. Grobler was the best of the bowlers taking 3-22.
The second round of the weekend was called off due to wet conditions.

Oamaru Coaches XI 149/4 (S. Grobler 37, R. Singh 31, Z. Naldrett 31, E. Booth 2-12) defeated Glenavy 115/6 (Z. Graham 34, E. Booth 27, S. Grobler 3-22) by 34 runs.
