North Otago's U17 Openers

Records and milestones marked the latest round of North Otago club cricket. 

Against Union, Liam Direen 60 and Harry Murphy 50 combined for a 97 run fourth wicket partnership for St Kevins. With the dismissal of Direen, St Kevins folded losing 6 wickets for 16 runs. Their final score 147/10 in 47.1 overs. Duncan Drew took 3-34, Gary Singh 3-36. 

Jeremiah Shields 48 and Drew 21 set a solid foundation, but Craig Smith then took 5-9 to hand the game to St Kevin's, their first limited-overs win against Union at King George Park for 27 years. Union 124/10 in 39 overs. 

Led by Cameron Grubb 55, Shannon Dunnett 49 and Lachlan Kingan 34 Valley reached 188/10 in 48 overs against Oamaru. Stephan Grobler took 4-25, Lakshay Siwach 3-37 and Lachlan Brookes 2-42. 

Oamaru's middle order fired with Siwach 66, Stephan Grobler 28 and Reece Curle 26. Fittingly Robbie Breen playing his 100th senior fixture for Oamaru , was there at the end as Oamaru won by 1 wicket. Grubb taking 3-21, Lachlan Kingan 2-46 and Angus Ruddenklau 2-20. Oamaru making 192-9 with 1 ball to spare. 

Glenavy batted first on the artificial at home against Albion struggling to 69-7 after 23 overs. The tail then wagged, Glenavy adding 94 further runs to reach 163/9 in 50 overs. Stafford Adams 28 top scored, while Ross McCulloch (at 10) 24 and Jordan Mulligan (at 11) 20 contributed. Aneesh Kumar took 3-39 and Hayden Creedy 2-21. 

Albion looked to be well set at 105-3 but 7 wickets would then fall for 34 runs, Zach Graham taking 5-5 of 6 overs. Glenavy winning by 24 runs. Creedy scored 42 and Albert Francis 37, Digger McCulloch taking 3-34. Albion all out for 139 in 45 overs. 

Three teams are now tied for fourth making for a compelling final round before semifinals in a fortnight.

Glenavy 163/9 (S. Adams 28, R. McCulloch 24, J. Mulligan 20, A. Kumar 3-39, H. Creedy 2-21) defeated Albion 139ao (H. Creedy 42, A. Francis 37, Z. Graham, 5-5, D. McCulloch 3-24, R. Van Leeuwen 2-16) by 24 runs.
