Oamaru, Union, St Kevins and Glenavy will play in the Borton Cup semi-finals in a fortnight, after the latest results in North Otago senior club cricket in the weekend.

Oamaru defeated second-placed Union making 254/7, their third 250+ score in as many weeks, thanks to Regan George 75 not out, Asanka Gamlathge 53, Luke Taylor 38 and Lachlan Brookes 20. Jake Greenslade took 2-29 and Daniel Martin 2-61 taking two wickets each.

Thomas Shields 66 and Jeremiah Shields 46 put on 98 for the first wicket in 27 overs. Union then struggled to accelerate, only managing another 75 runs for their last nine wickets, 173 all out in 46.4 overs. Bradley Flint took the figures of 6-25, his first five-wicket bag in North Otago cricket, and Gamlathge 3-38. Oamaru holding the Payne Tempero Cup for the winter.v

Valley, who needed to win to stay in the hunt for the semi-finals and hope Albion defeated Glenavy, elected to bat first against St Kevins at the College. Batting 50 overs, they made 191/9, Samuel Petrie batting the entire innings reaching 55 not out. Valley’s top scorer was extras with 60, St Kevins bowling 33 wides. Liam Direen took 3-30, Cameron Fowler 2-19 and Hamish Fowler 2-37.

Having St Kevins 50-3, Valley looked to have a chance, but Hunter Growcott 31, Lloyd Fellowes 56 not out and Campbell Fowler 79 not out then saw their team through to 194/4 of 36.2 overs. Liam Mavor took 2-29 for Valley.

With the Marshall Smith trophy on the line, Albion hosted Glenavy. Batting first Glenavy was all out for 159 runs in 45 overs, Safford Adams 24, Zach Graham 24, Harry Murphy 20 and Hamish McCulloch 20. Club stalwart Ricky Whyte took 4-29, Jacob Davies 2-34 and Aneesh Bose 2-42.

Despite the efforts of opener Albert Francis 73, Albion was all out for 127 in 41.5 overs. Jordan Mulligan taking 3-30 and Harry Murphy 3-12 of 10 overs.
