Full scorecard for the match

Oamaru's domination of the Borton Cup this season concluded at the weekend with a 113-run victory over Union in the final.

Winning the toss and batting first, Oamaru lost Nick Johnston (1) in the second over. Quinn Wardle (34) and Lachlan Brookes steadied the innings adding 68 runs for the second wicket before Brookes was dismissed for 24 and Wardle soon followed Duncan Drew taking an outstanding diving one-handed catch. Oamaru 73/3 in 24 overs.

Luke Taylor, replacing Brookes, then took over the innings. In fine form throughout the season, he top-scored with 73, Oamaru finishing with 206/9 in their allotted 50 overs - their first score under 250 since early February. The total looked to be a little below par and was thanks to good bowling and fielding from Union. Brad Fleming took 3-48 and Daniel Martin 3-28.

Union, however, was rocked early losing their top four batsmen in quick succession to leave them effectively on life support at 25/4 after 10 overs. Veteran Jeremiah Shields played a lone hand combining with Scott Kitto (12) and Kane McLauchlan (14) but with Oamaru strangling the Union batting making runs difficult to come by the pressure was starting to tell. The end came quickly for Union, losing their last three wickets in successive overs, Shields the second last for 27, all out for 93 in 32 overs.

Bradley Flint was the star of the Oamaru bowling taking 5-10, including the key wickets of Drew (1) and Blake James (2), knocking off the top of the Union order.

Oamaru's victory means a clean sweep of all trophies in the Borton Cup competition DG Sewell Shield (Minor Premier), Payne Tempero Cup (challenge), and the Borton Cup itself. It is Oamaru's 36th Senior Championship since its first in 1900-1901, North Otago club cricket's second season.

In the Club30 final, Valley defeated Waitaki Boys Sewell by 13 runs.
