Sean Eathorne capped of a successful year taking the Oamaru Licensing Trust trophy for Cricketer of the year at the North Otago Cricket awards held on Saturday at King George Park.

During the season Sean moved to the district being employed as a player coach by North Otago Cricket along with acting as a player coach at Waitaki Boys. For the Hawke Cup fixtures he was the North Otago Hawke Cup captain, and was in good form scoring 172 against South Canterbury equalling the record for the highest score by a North Otago player. When the rep season finished he continued playing for the Waitaki Boys 1st XI and led them to the semi-finals for the first time in a number of seasons scoring three centuries after the Christmas break including 190 in one game, believed to be a record in North Otago senior one day club cricket. In total during the club season he scored 899 runs taking the North Otago Senior batting trophy and along with the Umpires trophy for captain of the year. He also played for Otago Volts in their one day fixture against the Auckland Aces at Whitestone Contracting Stadium in January.

In the other two major trophies Matt Day took the Bob Pile Cup for the Junior Cricketer of the Year while Robert Coates was awarded with the Alexander Keith Memorial Trophy for Services to North Otago Cricket. During the presentation of Coates award it was mentioned the large amount of hours and effort he put into the wicket at Whitestone Contracting Stadium over the season.

Other trophies for North Otago Representative teams went to Matt Machan who picked up the Outstanding Representative Performance for his 130 in the Hawke Cup defence, Jordan Horrell took the Woolworths Challenge Cup for Best Representative Performance On and Off the Field, Marcel McKenzie won the Trust Bank Trophy for Representative Fielding, Lori Kingan and Lucy Paton were jointly the Representative Schoolgirl Batsman, and Emma Paton was the Representative Schoolgirl bowler. David Sewell's five wicket-bag against Otago Country along with the centuries scored by Sean Eathorne, Marcel McKenzie and Matt Machan were also mentioned.

Earlier in the day Union won the Borton Cup, with Albion taking the Payne Tempero Challenge Cup and the Tui 20/20 Trophy. Valley managed to take away a number of trophies with the Dick Hunt Rosebowl for the Senior Holiday Competition, the North Otago Cricket Association Cup for the Senior Reserve Competition and their second grade side took both the J P Dell Cup and the North Otago Association Cup for the Second Grade Competition and Second Grade Holiday Competition respectively. Albion Blue took the NOCA Cup for the Senior Reserve Competition.

In individual club related trophies Brad Kernahan took the Otago Daily Times Trophy for Senior All-Rounder of the year, with Eathorne winning the batting and Ricky Whyte, playing in his first full Senior season taking the bowling. Matt Murphy cleaned up the Senior Reserve trophies taking Batting and Bowling along with the All-Rounder and Kelvin Mansfield took the Oamaru Mail trophy for Second Grade All-Rounder.
